
RUBEN M. RIBEIRO
Ruben M. Ribeiro is a former Intelligence Officer of the Defense Strategic Intelligence Service (SIED) , with experience as an Analyst and Operational.
As an Analyst, the subjects dealt with were first approached from a geographical perspective (by priority), with the areas analyzed from a political (including defense and security), social (population and diasporas) and economic perspective (different economic sectors and key players). Special attention was also paid to cross-cutting issues such as organized crime, terrorism, trafficking, as well as many other regional and sub-regional issues.
While Operational, he conducted several missions and special projects abroad. The areas of intervention included the recruitment and management of sources (HUMINT), counter-intelligence, VIP security and close protection (foreign dignitaries), as well as the response to threats (with a view to protecting Portuguese interests abroad).
Both as an Analyst and Operational, he also assumed the responsibility of representing the Service in international meetings of specialists and counterparts in his areas of specialization, in addition to acting whenever necessary as a Liaison Officer on the ground.
Throughout his personal and professional life, he developed a keen international network of contacts in the Intelligence, Defense, Security areas as well as in the diplomatic, political, economic and social areas.
Married and with a son, Ruben dedicates his free time to his family, reading, off-road, shooting, riding and restoring classic cars.
